HotelsCombined affiliate Review

They are winners in some markets. I think they should develop their affiliate system a little bit.

They had suspended my account and denied the payment of commission and they reopened it later and payed for me.

A HotelsCombined affiliate e-mail:

“We suspended your account because your traffic quality was very poor.  It took a long time to identify this, because your traffic volumes were so low too.  This means that you have very little traffic, and what you do have is very poor quality.

Note that we compare 30+ different providers, so booking.com and HRS form only a very tiny part of our hotel inventory.

If you really want to repair your relationship with us, I strongly suggest you focus on sending good quality traffic to your remaining Affiliate Links.  This is the only way to get your Affiliate account out of its suspended state, by generating some real revenue for us.

I knew some SEO experts, they were very tricky and they could send huge amount of traffic to HotelsCombined in 2009. I do not use these kind of tricks. I have very nice travel blogs with good conversions rates. I prefer booking.com affiliate system (~1%).

We are a group of volunteers and starting a new initiative in a community.
Your blog provided us valuable information to work on. You have done a great job

Yes. Cookies is only a sweet bait.
    http://www.hotelscombined.com/AboutUs/Privacy.aspx

Booking.com has much more better conversion rates in the European market. They offer 1-2% estimated conversions for relevant traffic.

Cookies should be used more often. Respectability is more important than profit many times.

Thanks for taking time to discuss it, I feel it and love learning more on this topic…

    Cookies can not work!
Most of the partners of HotelsCombined do not use it. So it is only a tricky marketing to increase their traffic.

  • Arten January 28, 2010

I think we should report it to Search Engines too. They did not pay tidily recently.

  • Tom February 5, 2010

Their cookies could work sometimes very well. It can not become 100% precise of course. Some bigger affiliates could measure it.

Do you know the conversion rates? Is 0,5-1,5% possible with them?

  • Pearl Iwasaki February 5, 2010

You made some good points there. I did a search on the topic and found most people will agree with your blog.

What is captcha code?, pls provide me captcha code codes or plugin, Thanks in advance.

It’s probably best to hear straight from the horse’s mouth on this issue.

Direct hotel providers who use a CPA commission model can only be transparent because they have total control of the booking. They also only pay you for bookings, and tend to pay you only after the end-user actually stays at the hotel, which can be several months in the future.

We don’t actually control the final booking. Also, each of our providers uses a different commission structure and reporting system, which makes total transparency overly complicated and probably confusing to our Affiliates. This is why we pay per-Lead instead of per-booking, and why we offer a Detailed Traffic Audit whenever you want more detailed information about your traffic statistics.

Our commissions are smaller ($0.50 – $1.00), but conversions are more often (50% – 100%) and we process payments monthly on the balance as at the start of the month. This means your revenue stream is much more stable and reliable in the long term.

Regarding cookies, just about all Affiliate Programs use them. They are the only way to track repeat visits, and the only way to ensure that users can’t tamper with the URL to avoid generating commissions on your account. There are of course ways to render cookies useless, but this is rare, and there is no way to protect against it anyway.

If anyone has any questions about the HotelsCombined.com Affiliate Program, please direct them straight to our support team at affiliate@HotelsCombined.com

    Regards,
    HotelsCombined Affiliate Team.

hi it is my first reply on this website and at first I would like to thank for the unique information, which I were able to find in this and all previous topics , it really helped me very much. I will definitely put this website on my rss reader :) Also, I would like to ask – don’t you mind if I will quate some information from your website since I am writing articles for the Bukisa, Ezine and other articles directories (this is my part time job)? It would really help me with some of mine articles. Of course, I will mention your blog name or URL (not all articles directories allows URL’s , so I can’t 100% promise that you will get a direct backlink to your blog).

    2010-06-09 News:

Recently, a Data Analyst investigated the algorithm that calculates Affiliate Lead Values. As a result, the algorithm was streamlined for efficiency and upgraded to be more precise over certain date range constraints. We are proud to announce that this new, more accurate algorithm will be released within the next week or so.

Rigorous data modelling has shown that many Affiliates will remain mostly unaffected by this upgrade, so the software release should largely go unnoticed. Still, there is the possibility that some Affiliates will notice a slight increase or a slight decrease in their overall earnings in the near future. Any Affiliates who are concerned about this possibility should contact the Affiliate Support Team to ask how their traffic fared in the data modelling tests. These tests cannot possibly predict exact future traffic statistics, but they may provide a valuable indicator when making financial forecasts.

Affiliates who have the Transactions Report enabled on their accounts will probably find it to no longer be as useful in determining the exact value of specific traffic metrics anymore. This is due to an overhaul of the parameters that are used in the commission algorithm. Affiliates who rely on this report for reasons such as determining paid search bid prices and optimising marketing strategies, will now be supported better by our Detailed Traffic Audit. Affiliates should just email the Affiliate Support Team with a request for the report, and it will be sent before the end of the next business day. The request should include the desired date range for the report, which should at least encompass 1000 Leads to return any useful results. This Detailed Traffic Audit will soon become a self-serve feature in the Affiliate Control Panel, but there is no word yet on the development timeframe for this project.

So in conclusion, we advise that Affiliates keep a close eye on their reported earnings over the next few weeks, to ensure that everything remains fairly normal. The Affiliate Support Team will gladly offer assistance, to prevent any major changes from occurring unexpectedly.

Their percentages are good, but the daily averages are low compared to other elite Booking systems.

Please write a review here if you earn between 10-100 USD/day with HotelsCombined.

As a travel blogger Affiliate Program Tutorials are nice but mass page generating tips would be more useful. So we should translate the main frame and the most importants topics only. We could focus on local SEO and Private Branding.

Most internet marketers who are making decent money these days are promoting Cost-Per-Action, or CPA offers. The reason for this publishers don’t need to complete high cost sales in order to get commission for a conversion.

    Hi,

I am not sure what sort of traffic you generate but i have been with Hotelscombined for a couple of months. My traffic was crappy at first… and now it’s still slow but they have been very helpful with advice and tips. I have generated some profit and things are going well, I don’t quite think they would write something like that..

  • alex August 21, 2011

hotelscombined.com is the biggest scam ever!don´t waste your time and money!

They never pay even if you generate houndreds of bookings !They will terminate your account and keep the profit.

An advice from your friend that searched the oppinions of users of hotelscombined and not even 1 per cent got paid.

Don´t do it because you waste time and they earn profit from your effort.

  • Mary September 6, 2011

    Hi

Do you have any articles here that talk about some successful stories from Affiliates of providers like booking.com? I think it would be usefull to have a read like that.

    Thank you,
    Mary

  • Marco September 19, 2011

Hum, just felt the urge to reply to Alex’s message and say

that actually i got paid by hotelscombined.com.

I have a low traffic site, and i managed to get paid $75. Things were better at first but it looks like they lost Google ads from their revenue stream and now leads aren’t paying that well.

This is the only reason I’m looking for alternatives since they were paying not only for sales but also for clicks.

  • Katerine September 23, 2011

    +1 Marco,

This is the only reason I’m looking for alternatives since they were paying not only for sales but also for clicks.

    today my leads is 0,02$ :( 3-4 month ago, leads price was – 1,5$ – 2,5$

    I’m looking for alternatives, but… not found : (

  • Natalia December 2, 2011
